🥡 3 Things Top of Mind This Week

No tactics this week. Just three things rattling around in my head that I can't stop thinking about.

Here they are.

1. Skill stacking beats being the best

I've been reading "How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big" by Scott Adams.

The big idea: you don't need to be the best at one thing.

You need to be pretty good at a bunch of things that combine into something nobody else has.

That's been my whole life.

Music production. Stock trading. Flipping stuff on eBay. Music management. Real estate. Video editing.

Did I become a master at any of them? No.

But stack them all together and you get a skill set no other person walking around has.

Now I can plug into almost anything and figure it out. Add AI and constant learning on top of that and the stack just keeps getting more valuable.

That's the real reason I've had success early. Not one superpower. A pile of decent ones.

2. Become unrecognizable to yourself

Was listening to a podcast with Greg LaVecchia, one of the founders of Bloom Nutrition.

He said something that stuck with me.

Every 3 to 6 months you should be unrecognizable to yourself.

Not your values. Not your core. Those stay.

But everything else - what you know, who you're around, how you operate - should keep evolving because you keep learning, trying new things, dropping what doesn't work, keeping what does.

Don't be scared to switch circles. Switch careers. Whatever it takes.

The point isn't just getting better. It's that you actually learn who you are along the way.

You figure out what you like, what you don't, and you get more confident because of it.

3. SOPs are the floor, not the ceiling

Right now I'm deep in building SOPs for the team. Repeatable playbooks anyone can follow.

Here's the thing nobody says about them.

They don't have to be perfect. They don't have to be the end-all strategy.

Just documenting the process gives you and your team confidence. You stop shooting all over the place.

For admin and data stuff, SOPs are pretty black and white. Follow the steps, done.

But for anything marketing or creative, the SOP is just the foundation. The blueprint.

You still need a creative person using their gut to actually execute it well.

The SOP gets you to the starting line. Your intuition runs the race.

📣 Before you go

If one of these hit, hit reply and tell me which one.

I read every response.

Have a killer week.
